Twitter and Twitter DM Channels Discontinued

Enchant previously offered both Twitter and Twitter DM channels. These channels allowed businesses to receive and respond to their Twitter messages (mentions and DMs) from within Enchant's omni-channel shared inbox solution.

However, due to changes in Twitter API policies, we're no longer able to offer these channels.

What policies did Twitter change?

In 2023, Twitter instituted new policies and pricing for usage the Twitter API.

The new policies have resulted in in degraded API access for all currently authorized Twitter accounts. Additionally, the new pricing tiers that were made available are not commercially viable for our use cases.

As a result, we've had to take the difficult decision to discontinue our Twitter and Twitter DM channel offerings.

Will Twitter and Twitter DM channels be back in the future?

The Twitter API is currently accessible using "standard track" API pricing tiers which are not commercially viable for our use cases.

Twitter has hinted of future "business track" API pricing tiers that may be applicable to our use cases. However, they have not released any specific information about these pricing tiers yet. Once Twitter makes these "business track" API pricing tiers available, we'll re-assess viability of them for our use cases.

If you're interested in getting your own license for the Twitter API (a minimum of $100 / month paid directly to Twitter), we may able to use it to power your Twitter channel. Please get in touch to discuss!
